Colubris Buys Kiwi Networks To Enhance WLAN Technology

Wi-Fi device and system company Colubris Networks Inc. said it has acquired Kiwi Networks Inc., a developer of Wi-Fi technologies and automated radio-frequency planning and control products, for an undisclosed amount. Kiwi had raised at least $1.5 million, a figure listed as “investment” in Kiwi on the Web site of investor Western Technology Investment. Colubris Networks acquires Wi-Fi company

  Colubris Networks joined this week’s telecom merger-fest by acquiring Kiwi Networks, a supplier of advanced cellular technologies for next-generation Wi-Fi and WiMax deployment. The deal strengthens its portfolio of Wi-Fi and WiMax-based wireless local area network solutions. Terms of the deal were not disclosed. Wireless LAN switch vendor Colubris Networks inc has paid an undisclosed sum for Kiwi Networks Inc, an early-stage start-up developing advanced cellular WiFi technology around radio frequency management. Colubris Networks, a vendor of wireless LAN access and management products near Boston, has announced its acquisition of Kiwi Networks, an early-stage company in Campbell, Calif., developing cellular and Wi-Fi solutions, including RF planning and control products for enterprises and service providers. Colubris Makes First Acquisition

Wireless equipment maker Colubris Networks made its first acquisition today, snapping up Wi-Fi startup Kiwi Networks for an undisclosed sum. Radio frequency and packet scheduling products from privately held Kiwi help corporations and carriers limit interference and reduce congestion on Wi-Fi systems. Colubris Networks Inc. has acquired Kiwi Networks Inc., whose technology is used to mitigate interference among wireless data signals passing over unlicensed radio spectrum. The companies did not disclose financial terms of the agreement. Kiwi is based in Campbell, Calif.
