Disruptor Beam Expands Executive Team with Two Key Hires

Boston-area mobile game company also announces “Disruptor Engine” game-development and liveops platform

April 10, 2019 (Boston, MA) — Disruptor Beam, an independent mobile game developer, today announced the appointment of Claire Wadlington as Chief Financial Officer and Trapper Markelz as Chief Product Officer. The two executives are being brought on to help lead Disruptor Beam in its next stage of growth, which will include the launch of several new mobile game titles and the commercialization of Disruptor Engine™, a platform for operating live mobile games.

As the company behind Game of Thrones Ascent, The Walking Dead: March To War, and Star Trek Timelines (whose aggregate global revenues are on track to surpass $100 million this year), Disruptor Beam has since 2012 consistently delivered deeply engaging games that appeal to fans of the world’s top entertainment franchises. With three more unannounced titles in development slated for release over the next eighteen months, the company continues to be the licensee of choice for many of the world’s most successful movie studios, television networks and production companies.

Now with Disruptor Engine, the company is building upon its past success at creating new games by bringing to market a platform with rich capabilities in Identity, Social, Analytics, Commerce, and Live Operations that enable efficient development and monetization for any mobile game developer.

As the company’s first Chief Financial Officer, Claire Wadlington possesses deep financial services expertise as a venture capital partner, an investment banking managing director and a startup CFO in a broad cross-section of technology sectors including software, internet, digital health, edtech and robotics. She is an active member of the Boston entrepreneurial community, serving as a past chair of the MIT Enterprise Forum of Cambridge and a mentor at Techstars, Pipeline Fund and LearnLaunch, and is on the boards of two not-for-profit organizations, the Benjamin Franklin Institute of Technology and Tech Goes Home. Claire holds an MBA from the Stanford Graduate School of Business and a bachelor’s degree from Yale.

Trapper Markelz brings 20 years of product leadership to the newly created position of Chief Product Officer, most recently building enterprise software businesses in gamified digital health. He was previously CEO of MeYou Health, a Boston-based wellness technology company. Prior to that, Trapper worked on GamerDNA, an online gaming community and advertising platform, and was the founder of 360voice, an online community for Xbox gamers. Trapper earned a degree in Information Technology from RIT and is a graduate of Harvard Business School’s GMP18 class.
